Cable from the top line of silver cables from the American company Audioquest. This is one of the most popular cables in the manufacturer's line. The cable is distinguished by the presence of the DBS 72V system.
Connectors made of ultra-pure copper with silver plating are massive, but connect quite gently, without unnecessary effort. Conductors made of polished silver monowire. Silver wires are located in Teflon tubes, which can be considered an air dielectric. The internal structure consists of three conductors. The cable is shielded, the multilayer screen is made of metallized carbon. The traditional Audioquest dielectric biasing technology is used - DBS, each cable contains the housings of the system itself and its power supply, which is provided by six 12 V 23AE batteries. The manufacturer recommends changing the batteries every few years, and for ease of use, there is an option to check their condition - just press the button on the housing and make sure that the indicator is lit. If desired, you can turn off the bias system by simply disconnecting the connectors from the case.
The sound of the cable is open, bright and light. The dynamics are high, the detail is also at a decent level. The presentation is neat and accurate, maybe just a little softened, gentle. Both the main tones and the aftertones are reproduced equally well. The nature of the cable is unobtrusive, it copes quite successfully with different genres and intonations. Light or heavy, joyful or sad, the music sounds without obvious advantages. It also does not go well with speed - there is exactly as much of it as needed, there are no difficulties in fast and complex fragments of the recording. The frequency range is transmitted evenly. The bass is fast, light, the midrange is saturated and at the same time light, slightly softened, the upper frequencies are neat and accurate.
Although the silver signature of the cable is definitely recognizable, there is no emphasis on the upper frequencies, nor is there any imbalance in dynamics or sound saturation across the entire range.
