The Audio Technica AT-33EV cartridge is an improved version of the iconic model. The original AT33ANV was released in honor of Audio Technica's 45th anniversary in 2006. The AT33EV model retains its design but further improves the sound.
The elliptical stylus made of solid diamond with multiple facets and radii of 0.3 x 0.7 mil tracks the recording groove with high precision. The durable cartridge body is cast from aluminum. Anti-vibration rubber "Hanenight" eliminates unnecessary vibrations. The cartridge design with a dual moving coil increases channel separation and expands the frequency response range, providing extraordinary sound quality. PCOCC wire (pure copper 6N with special treatment) is used for winding the coil, and neodymium magnets are used to achieve optimal output signal levels. AT33EV has a low output signal of 0.3 mV. Due to the low resistance of 10 Ohms, the cartridge head is less sensitive to load resistance, which allows you to significantly expand the range of phono equalizers or step-up transformers compatible with it.
The Audio-Technica AT33EV cartridge housing houses two cylindrical coils located at an angle to each other. Thanks to this know-how, it was possible to achieve a fairly high channel separation of 30 dB, as well as increase the upper limit of the frequency range to 50,000 Hz and, as a result, obtain a cleaner and smoother sound. Two brass screws (with nuts) are used to attach the head to the shell, the distance between which is half an inch (about 13 mm). There are inserts made of special synthetic resin in the upper and lower parts of the housing, which help suppress parasitic resonances.
A special rubber-based Hanenite damping material is used inside the housing as well as at the cantilever attachment point to reduce unwanted vibrations. It is recommended to use a phono equalizer with a high gain and an input impedance of 100 Ohms. An excellent option in this case would be to use a step-up transformer. The weight of the model is 6.9 g, which allows it to work normally with most modern tonearms.
The Audio-Technica AT33EV cartridge is widely popular among lovers of high-quality sound. It provides an accurate, moderately detailed, rich sound with an excellent stage, excellent bass reproduction, and good dynamics. This model is also characterized by depth, expressiveness, and musicality.
