The power amplifier is very popular in the UK. Designed by the famous engineer John Shearne. Power 50 W (8 Ohms) and 80 W (4 Ohms)
Artificial blue marble front panel. The power amplifier section uses a 250VA toroidal transformer, and careful routing of power lines on the main circuit board minimizes noise.
Phase 3 has a two-stroke output stage, which was chosen because it provides the highest sound quality. The only downside to this configuration is a faint "clunk" through the speakers when the device is turned on. This is a result of the small DC offsets that are introduced when the power is turned on. One way to deal with this sound is to use a relay in the signal path, but Shearn says he decided not to do this because it negatively affects the sound quality.
The amplifier uses high-quality parts. After the device is assembled, it is adjusted and tested personally by John Shearne. DC offset and output bias corrections are performed and channels are precisely matched.
This amp is similar to tube models, but without the lack of speed that some tube amps have. The amp performed equally well with classical or rock material. The sound is well balanced.
