Transistor power amplifier of the American company McIntosh.
Uses Quad Balance and Power Guard technologies.
Quad Balance minimizes distortion even at extreme output power.
Power Guard is a patented technology that protects the amplifier from clipping, protecting the acoustic system from damage. Therefore, it is almost impossible to "burn" the acoustics with the McIntosh MC152 amplifier. Polished stainless steel chassis. The round knobs with chrome rims work softly, with a pleasant click.
The amplifier is equipped with two pointer wattmeters with blue illumination, which can be turned off using a button located on the left side of the front. Between the wattmeter is a pair of LEDs that indicate the activation of the Power Guard overload protection system, and an LED that signals the connection to the network. On the right side of the front panel is the power button.
The design uses fully balanced circuitry. The model easily copes even with capricious in terms of impedance unevenness of the speaker, as it has two output autotransformers with separate taps for 2, 4, 8 Ohms and develops a power of 150 W per channel regardless of the load resistance. The use of autotransformers helps to minimize noise and interference. A powerful power transformer with buffer capacitors of large capacity is installed in the power supply unit. The output circuits use transistors with Thermal Trak technology, which controls their temperature. In addition to Power Guard protection, there is a Thermal Protection circuit to prevent overheating and a Sentry Monitor circuit to monitor the output stage.
On the rear panel there are the following inputs: balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA. A switch is used to choose between them. A similar switch is used to activate the Auto Off function, which automatically turns off the amplifier if there is no signal for half an hour. Eight screw terminals (4 per channel) are intended for connecting speaker systems. The negative pole of the cable is connected to the negative terminal, and the positive pole is connected to one of the three terminals with a load of 2, 4 or 8 Ohms (depending on the impedance of the speaker). There is an input and output of the Power Control system bus for controlling incl. / Off McIntosh components working in one connection.
