The Unico 50 amplifier develops an output of 120 watts (at an 8-ohm load), has remote control. The pre-amplification cascades are assembled on ECC83 tubes (two in each channel) operating in class A. The power amplifier unit is made of selected bipolar transistors included in dynamic class A. This solution allowed avoiding the use of an expensive output transformer (as in fully tube designs ), and at the same time get sound quality as close as possible to that provided by tube technology. The amplifier is assembled according to the scheme of double mono according to the balance scheme with zero overall negative feedback, and complete separation of channels, including separate power sources for them. The device is assembled using high-class components (including ALPS switches for the input selector and volume control), and its weight is almost the same as that of the more powerful and expensive Unico 100 model.
Its front panel, made of a thick aluminum panel, has a symmetrical arrangement of controls in relation to the display: the knob on the right is responsible for adjusting the volume, and the one on the left - for switching signal sources. LEDs, grouped in two rows also on the sides of the display, indicate the selected input and mute mode, and the display shows the set volume level.
On the back panel of the amplifier there are inputs for four linear signal sources (three RCA inputs and one balanced XLR), an input / output for connecting a recording device, and an output for connecting a subwoofer. There are also two pairs of output screw terminals for connecting speakers according to the Bi-Wiring scheme . The side panels are essentially cooling radiators for the output transistors.
The amplifier is endowed with a rich, dynamic and slightly silky sound, with a very high degree of detail and accurate transmission of the smallest nuances of the recording. The sound picture created by the Unico 50 is very natural, good focusing of sound images and their accurate placement in space creates a feeling of being in the room listening to "live" musicians. Thanks to high-power output stages, the amplifier is well combined with various acoustics, and is able to create an impressive sound pressure even in a large room. The character of its sound is exceptionally pleasant and comfortable, as well as completely universal for listening to music of various genres.
