The English company Roksan began its activities by developing a vinyl player. After the success of the player, the founder of the company Touraj Moghaddam decided to engage in electronics. The Roksan KA-1 Mk3 amplifier presented is the third version in the Kandy line. However, if Mk 1 and Mk 2 were not much different, then Mk 3 is actually is a new construction.
The amplifier has an even tonal balance. The instruments emit the right timbres, so they sound lively, full-bodied. The three-dimensional sound of the brass in the bass register, the natural copper of the trumpet and the live sound of the flute are perceptible. The grand piano sounds juicy, plentiful, timbrally correct. The uncolored sound of the instruments is inherent. Bass drums sound energetic, elastic and fleshy.
The most impressive is the detailed transmission of the fine structure of the sound of the bottom. I liked the transparent and sharp cellos, the relief playing of the double bass, the detailed and deep sound of the bass tuba, helicone and fanfare. The playing of the bass guitar emits palpable waves of energy. Percussion in the lower register is endowed with a precise elastic sound, even in the sound of the barrel modulations are audible. The middle is characterized by transparent violins and the deep sound of the flute: where there was a monotonous sound, new depths of sound appeared. Even in the sound of such a seemingly monotonous instrument as the horn, a new dimension opens up. Acoustic and electric guitars are transparent and have rich reverberation. The piano from the mid-bass to the lower treble sounds solid, bright and collected. Excellent microdynamics allows you to convey the reverberation of a released string and the undertones of a double bass soundboard, the breath of a flautist and the subtlest overtones of the sticks hitting a cymbal.
The choral parts were impressive: the voices of the second plan were heard even in those moments of the composition, in which they were only guessed before.
The amplifier sounds smooth and confident on any musical material, be it classical or dance "house". He is good with the bass, showing its depth, texture and energy. Trebles are reproduced cleanly and in detail. The middle smoothly connects the edges of the frequency bands, without standing out, but also without going into the background. The English are quite good at conveying the emotions of music, unlike many "cold" competitors among transistor technology. The scene is well localized.
The device is in excellent cosmetic and technical condition. No repairs or upgrades. Original packaging and documents. Equipped with a remote control.
