The acoustic systems were developed by the famous Austrian acoustics designer and part-time sound engineer Hans Deutsch. He is also known as the author of high-class systems of the Bosendorfer brand. The acoustic design is a classic horn resonator forgotten by modern developers. Such an acoustic design is the highlight of all systems developed by Hans Deutsch back in the eighties. This is not some kind of phase inverter and not an acoustic labyrinth, but something special - a low-frequency resonator based on the Helmholtz principle with a characteristic that smoothly decreases after a certain frequency.
Hans Deutsch devoted many years to the calculations and optimization of the horn resonator. Having worked as a musician and sound engineer, recording Karayan's own orchestra, he came to the conclusion that all other acoustic design options are not capable of accurately conveying the original harmonic structure at low frequencies. And he succeeded. The accumulated experience was first implemented in acoustics, which were produced by the German company ATL back in the eighties, and then in top models by Bosendorfer. In the Hans Deutsch Light Style 3 Mk 2, the acoustic resonator is tuned to a frequency of 130 Hz and serves to load low-frequency heads with 130 mm diffusers. Continues the formation of the main spectrum of the dome tweeter with a soft fabric membrane with a diameter of 28 millimeters. By the way, all drivers are Hans Deutsch's own development and are produced by the company without any help.
For the Hans Deutsch Light Style 3 Mk 2 amplifier of this article, it will not be a difficult load. Acoustics are highly sensitive. We get a dynamic sound with a fairly dense bass at full power of just a few watts. The horn resonator, of course, wears some colors, almost the entire middle register can be heard in their emitted spectrum. But due to the fact that the bell is directed downward, all the mid-frequency "exhaust" goes to the floor and does not reach the listening point. But the bass is really unusual. Low timbres are solid and saturated. The instruments of the entire bass group are imaginative and fantastically detailed. The double bass is reproduced in relief and deeply, all shades of the game are present. Percussion players are bribed not only by strength and mass, but also by the clarity of the attack.
The middle register is also not reproduced in the same way as in most modern speakers. The sound does not have the usual superficiality and refined purity, but it is extremely open and does not tire at all. Spirit copper is hyperrealistic. Technical flaws characteristic of old phonograms are not perceived as annoying defects, you only listen to music. And the tracks, recorded in modern HD formats, are transmitted in such an elegant way
The speakers all have one pair of very high-quality acoustic terminals, but nothing more is needed for speakers with the result of a verified crossover. The body is finished with natural wood veneer.
The main purpose of the creators of Light Style 2 MkII was to achieve as much musicality as possible, even if losing in some sense a linear tonal balance. Hans Deutsch's sound is special and memorable - it has its own family that sets these cool systems apart from the rest. The bass is very decent in depth, which is perfectly structured and fast, its sound does not feel either excessive corruption or boring pre-damping - the same golden mean is maintained. A very convincing interpretation of the vocal parts, the reproduction of nuances in which, if not surprising, suggests a new way of perceiving already familiar works. Well connected to another section and high-frequency register - the quality of the tweeter is immediately felt, it does its job very delicately and precisely. The naturalness of trebles and their purity are at their best here.
