A powerful 200-mm LF driver with Sandwich W diffusers (special modification) is installed on each side wall at the bottom of the acoustics. On top, there is a midrange that looks the same as in the Grand and Micro Utopia. And in the meantime, it was he who underwent a significant modification, since he was assigned a key role in ensuring a harmonious combination of LF and mid-ranges. The company expanded the frequency range of the mid-range driver to the required limits without reducing the sound quality. This was solved with the help of Sandwich W technology, which made it possible to vary the properties of the speakers within wide limits. The core of the Diva Utopia Be mid-range W-diffuser consists of two (instead of one) layers of syntactic foam; on the outside – not two, as usual, but three fiberglass overlays. The magnetic system is a "Power Flower" configuration patented by the company. The voice coil is wound with a flat copper wire (higher efficiency of electromechanical conversion); the basket is cast. However, the most striking element of the system is the high-frequency head with a concave dome membrane made of beryllium, a metal that has a unique combination of properties that make it extremely attractive for use in various fields of human activity, including acoustic. The expensiveness of beryllium is not its only drawback: this metal is extremely difficult to process. The indisputable merit of Focal-JMlab is the "taming" for acoustic needs of the thinnest 25-μm beryllium foil, which allowed the company to make a breakthrough on the high-frequency front. The voice coil of the tweeter is driven by a magnet built according to the proprietary Focus Ring technology, the combined (SmCo and NdFeB) magnetic system of which brings the magnetic field strength in the gap up to 2 tesla and remains exceptionally thermally stable. The separation filter (24 dB per octave) is placed on two printed circuit boards and has 19 elements. Adherents of "gentle" filtering can relax: the OPS (Optimum Phase Crossover) phase correction system neutralizes the negative effects of "steepness", and the internal wiring is made with a high-quality cable with silver-plated wires, soldered to the filter and speakers.
One cannot ignore the exceptional quality of the acoustic design of "Diva": the 48-kilogram case consists of an MDF frame formed by horizontal and vertical "spars". From the outside, the structure is lined with powerful panels (thickness of the front panel is 50 mm), and on the sides it is also reinforced with 26-mm overlays made of solid toned ash. The front panel and the "landing" places of the bass players, hidden by removable masks, are covered with piano varnish. The system is equipped with two collet-screw terminals of the WBT brand.
