The FS 249 model is the oldest and largest of the three floor speakers included in the popular FS 240 series by Elac.
Acoustic systems have a phase inverter housing. One of the ports with a diameter of 10 cm is located at the bottom of the column. The second 6 cm port is located on the back and has a removable adjustment plug made of porous material. A massive lacquered cabinet made of MDF with internal partitions is connected to the base with the help of legs.
The woofer is represented by two large 180 mm speakers on rubber suspensions. These woofers have a membrane travel of 1.5 cm back and forth. 140 mm mid-range driver with fabric S-shaped suspension. The diffusers of these three emitters were named Crystal Membrane and marked AS-XR, in which the last letters indicate an extended dynamic range. They are made according to the "Aluminum-Sandwich AS Technology", the essence of which is that the speaker membrane is created according to the "sandwich" principle - an aluminum dome with a profile relief surface treatment that resembles a crystal is glued to a paper base. The voice coil is connected to both the paper and the aluminum layer. As a result, the necessary rigidity is provided, and unwanted resonances are eliminated. The JET III tweeter is designed according to the Hale emitter type and has a specific diaphragm-accordion. Its main advantage is the ability to reach the peak of the frequency range of 50 kHz. This ribbon HF head is provided with a dispersion spoiler created using DC (Dispersion Control) technology from a porous material. This device helps to reduce the dependence of the sound of the speakers on the acoustics of the room and their location in it.
Four gold-plated terminals are attached to the back wall of the speaker. With their help, you can perform a biwiring or biamping connection. High-quality components are used in separate filters, including coils with an air core. Internal wiring is made with Van den Hul cable.
The FS 249 model is characterized by crystal-clear sound with incredible transparency, high resolution and a wide surround stage. Compared to its younger brothers from the same line, this speaker sounds larger and deeper due to a more thorough bass section.
