In the Acoustic Energy Aegis Neo 3 floorstanding speakers, all three speakers are mounted on a solid 18mm fiberboard (FRP) panel, with a sealant strip around the perimeter of each speaker mount. Inside the case, 12-mm horizontal spacers made of fiberboard divide it into cavities for two medium / low-frequency (MID / LF) speakers and a small compartment in the lower part of the case. To eliminate the resonance of the side panels, vertical stiffeners are attached to them for the entire height of the column. A tweeter and a mid / woofer speaker are placed in the upper compartment of the case.
On the back panel, holes are made for each compartment of the column. The lower compartment houses a second woofer that covers the lower octaves. These acoustics are rather 2.5-band rather than real three-band. The separation filters are mounted on the rear wall of the case, and the largest of the three inductors is placed on a horizontal shelf away from the other two. In addition, the coils are oriented differently. All these features indicate a carefully thought-out design. A 25 mm diameter rubber plug is located under the terminal pad on the back panel of the case. Through it, sand or something similar can be filled into a small cavity at the bottom of the column. After such an operation, the center of gravity shifts down, making the speaker more stable, which is especially necessary at increased volume.
The lower stand, which slightly expands the support surface, contributes to increasing stability.
