The Rotel RT-09 V2 is built on a DAC from Woltson, working with a signal up to 24bit / 192kHz, and effectively combines the functions of a traditional tuner, a digital tuner, an external DAC and a network player. Moreover, network functions are implemented through a specialized USB connector. A USB-Ethernet adapter is used to connect a wired network, and a Wi-Fi adapter, which is supplied with the device, is used for wireless.

The device has a USB input for direct digital connection of an iPod or other USB class 2 devices, bypassing inexpensive analog input circuits in favor of a high-class Wolfson 24-bit / 192 kHz DAC and high-end analog stages. The tuner section provides reception of FM and Internet radio, as well as premium music services such as Pandora and SiriusXM. For easy tuning, the RT-09 V2 can store up to 30 presets, allowing you to instantly find both FM and Internet broadcasts. The RT-09 V2 streams music files from a PC using Windows Media Player 11 or 12 via a wired LAN Ethernet connection or wireless WiFi. Among the supported codecs: RealAudio, WMA, MP3, AAC and AAC + (without DRM), AU, WAV and AIFF. The tuner can be controlled both from the two-way RS-232 interface and via the IR channel.

The device plays Internet radio perfectly. Even stations with a low bitrate sound satisfactory, and the few that give a stream of 320 Kbit / s are simply mesmerizing. The same story with MP3 files recorded on a USB flash drive or played over the network. They sound very convincing.
It can play a sufficient number of file formats - from FLAC to OGG vorbis (including recordings with a high bit rate and sample rate.
If you use the Rotel for listening to FM and Internet radio, or as an external DAC (it has coaxial and optical inputs) to process the audio signal from a satellite receiver or TV, the increase in sound quality will be radical. If digital libraries contain music in compressed form, this device is one of the best on the market today in terms of configuration and capabilities.
