All electronics of the English company Leema Acoustics are named after constellations. Antila was named after a small constellation in the Southern Hemisphere.
The Leema Acoustics Antila uses differential sound processing provided by twenty digital-to-analog converters (Leema calls this its MD2 topology). The parallel placement of the 24/192 converters gives the sound an analog quality - this applies to medium and high frequencies, and of course it works on balanced outputs. "Active differential multi-DAC" MD2; in Leema, there is not one converter per channel and not even one per phase of each channel, but instead the phase is distributed among 20 digital-to-analog converters. This amounts to 10 stereo DACs and means that each phase of each channel is converted using 5 24-bit / 192kHz chips. Using multiple converters eliminates all minor differences between them. They form a homogeneous single DAC, in which any errors of an individual device are mutually canceled out. Each DAC ultimately makes a small contribution to the final result. The way they are organized is 10 stereo DACs for in-phase and anti-phase signals, so essentially we have 5 DACs per phase, so to speak. Then they are combined using adder-amplifiers, each of which receives five input signals. We stay with the noise gain and eliminate all DAC errors. If you encounter an error in the conversion or anywhere else, it will only be a part of the output signal, not fill it completely, as it can with a single device.
Before conversion, the data stream is buffered in the Leema data pipeline, which allows to reduce jitter in the input signal. This method is popular with external digital-to-analog converters, but is innovative for a single-body player.
Antila uses Philips VAM transport.
Antila features the so-called LIPS (Leema Intelligent Protocol System), which works as a modern bus system, allowing you to control interconnected Leema components as an all-in-one device. The player can either be a slave device - controlled remotely from a Tucana amplifier, for example - or a master device, in which case it can be used to select inputs and adjust the volume level, showing the current settings on its display (this is handy if you want to install an amplifier in a hidden state).
On the rear panel is a pair of LIPS connectors - next to analog outputs, both balanced and unbalanced, and digital sockets - in electrical and optical versions.
Antila stands at the forefront of the battlefield of high-end CD players with a very convincing sound quality.
THIS is a very good player of such a degree of perfection that allows the music to shine brightly and powerfully, it has transparency in the entire range.
