CD player of the Danish firm Densen.
The front panel and the top cover are one monobloc part, machined from aluminum. The chassis is made of the same metal, is distinguished by the exemplary accuracy of fitting each part and ensures maximum rigidity of the entire structure. The small chrome "buttons" of the buttons are devoid of functional signatures on the facade - they are moved to the edge of the upper border.
The 410XS was based on the B-400 + player. A completely new ATAPI controller has been created to control the CD drive. With the help of software developed by Densen, the controller controls not only the drive, but also the entire user interface with the remote control and display.
Densen's factory-modified CD drive features a clock generator controller that allows the motherboard to control the system clock to avoid jitter that can occur when using a single oscillator on both the transmit and receive side of the data stream. The B-410XS power supply uses a massive self-made toroidal transformer equipped with 4 separate outputs, thanks to which 4 separate power sources are used. 4 capacitors with a capacity of 10,000 mF make a total capacity of 40,000 mF. For an amplifier, this capacity is not unusual, but for a CD player, it is truly admirable.
The DAC and analog boards are separate from the main CPU board and can be upgraded as technology improves. 410XS can be upgraded to models B-420XS and B-440XS. The 24-bit DAC is housed in a shielded housing (to avoid digital interference) to analog circuits. The B-410XS can invert the absolute phase of the signal, so that even records with the wrong phase will be played correctly on it. The analog stage uses a unique class A feedback-free topology. It is even more improved compared to previous models and is one of the key elements that ensure the exceptionally high sound quality of the B-410XS.
The B410XS is the result of Densen CEO Thomas Cillesen's desire to create a CD player that would not only surpass existing Densen models, but also serve as a starting point for what can be expected from a CD player not only in the B-410XS price category, but much more high levels of cost. The B-410XS is transparent, dynamic, musically correct and exciting, with a precise soundstage and the ability to create an extremely lifelike sound, thanks to which you can forget that you are listening to "just" a CD player.
The B-410XS is equipped with dual RCA outputs, digital coaxial output and input, and Densen's own digital portal, allowing the device to be used as a stand-alone DAC or transport. Digital outputs can be disabled. The CD player is also equipped with a DenLink connector for convenient switching with other Densen devices and creating multi-room systems.
Like all Densen equipment, the B-410XS needs a longer "warm-up" than players of other brands. Perhaps this is somehow related to custom-made capacitors in the power supply system, which need time to form, or to output circuits without general feedback, which are particularly sensitive to power supply and react to the smallest deviations. After twenty to thirty hours, the sound improves significantly.
The B-410XS has luxurious macro and micro dynamics. All musical details are conveyed with extraordinary detail, and contrasts with outstanding intelligibility. You can also confidently give five points for the sound stage of the device - there are not the slightest deviations either in geometry, or in echeloning, or in focusing.
The player masterfully transmits everything that is concentrated on the edges of the range. The treble is very natural and vital, the bass is full of energy, precise and harmonically rich.
