And the weight of Xtension 10 is clearly with an increased safety margin, as much as 22 kg. It is equipped with a heavy-duty record stabilizer and an acrylic cover. It also uses a ten-inch tonearm, the 10 cc Evolution, which is made from carbon fiber and is therefore very light and stiff.
In this model, the development of the magnetic suspension technology of the subchassis, which has proven itself well in the PerspeX model 6, has been continued. For X-tension, this technology was developed anew, taking into account the use of new magnetic suspensions, which almost completely isolated the main chassis of the player. In combination with the large total weight of the player (about 25 kg), this eliminated even minimal resonances of the base. This technology is a unique combination of "loaded mass" and "floating turntable".
The main disc of the player is made of metal, because it has more weight than that of an archyl disc. A specially developed low-resonance alloy is used for the disc, which is additionally damped from the inside with sorbitan. On the outside, a vinyl coating is glued to the support disk, which is a very good mat. After applying the vinyl coating, the backing disc is carefully balanced. This technology allows you to get a heavy, resonance-free support disk.
When designing a player, there is an amount of energy transferred to the base of the tonearm from the movement of the cartridge. This energy, as well as energy from the motor and bearings (which should be away from the tonearm to avoid interference) must be controlled. Therefore, the X-tension tonearm is also in favorable conditions when using "large mass" technology. Additionally, it is damped with a sorbotan sheet.
The 10cc Evolution tonearm is made of carbon fiber and has a fixed pickup - this design is characterized by high rigidity and low effective mass. The conical shape of the tonearm tube contributes to the suppression of standing waves that can occur along the length of the tonearm. The tonearm is fully adjustable, so you don't need to buy extra shims to increase the vertical angle. So, to correct the azimuth, you can turn the tonearm tube, despite the stationary pickup. The tonearm rests on a reciprocating bearing, machined to a very high accuracy class of ABEC 7. Four Sorbotan-damped counterweights are included for magnetic mutes weighing between 4 and 14 grams.
The player is equipped with a belt drive powered by a three-phase synchronous motor with a Speed Box SE speed controller. It provides electronic speed switching between 33-1/3 and 45 rpm, as well as precise electronic adjustment in 0.1 rpm increments. In addition, the player has the ability to play records at a speed of 78 revolutions per minute. The set includes a Phono cable made of pure copper and gold-plated RCA connectors. The player comes with a high-quality acrylic dust cover and a massive record stabilizer.
