  • Technics EPC-205CMK4 pure boron tapered pipe cantilever, shell-integrated MM cartridge with newly developed bridge yoke structure.
  • By adopting a newly developed bridge yoke structure with a yoke part in the vibration system, light effective mass has been realized.
Pure boron cantilever is used for the cantilever. Pure Boron Cantilever realizes light weight and high strength by refining boron, which has the highest specific elastic modulus among existing elements, into pipe form by a special manufacturing method. In addition, a laser beam is used to process the tip mount hole for attaching the needle tip to pursue accuracy, thereby obtaining an extremely small effective mass of the vibrator and driving the high resonance frequencies out of the range of audibility.
Excellent transmission characteristics have been obtained by using mirror-polished HPF core for all magnetic materials such as pole pieces and yokes.
In the HPF magnetic circuit, the left and right channels are completely separated and arranged symmetrically to reduce the imbalance between the channels of various characteristics. Samarium / cobalt magnet is used for the vibrator magnet.

The low impedance, low noise design prevents the influence of load resistance and capacity connected to the cartridge.
It uses a one point suspension system. A disk-shaped magnet is placed at the base of the cantilever. It is attached to the support pipe with a suspension wire through the same disk-shaped damper. This makes it clear that the fulcrum is a single point just behind the magnet. This prevents the occurrence of intermodulation distortion due to the back-and-forth change of the cantilever and the degradation of high-frequency characteristics due to the increase in equivalent mass seen from the needle tip.
TTDD (Technics Temperature Defense Damper) is used as the damper material to improve changes in frequency characteristics and deterioration of trace performance due to temperature changes of butyl rubber used in the past.
The temperature dependency of TTDD is less than 1/3 of that of butyl rubber, and it has excellent viscoelasticity. It is a damper material with excellent cantilever support performance. Therefore, it suppresses the deterioration of trace performance in indoor temperature change and low temperature, and exhibits stable regeneration capability.
