The basic structure of the vibration system uses a single point support system common to the DL-103 series.
In this system, the cantilever is supported by an extra-fine piano wire (suspension wire) extending from the suspension. The cantilever does not undergo harmful vibration in the direction of the length of the sound groove (the direction of travel of the sound groove of the record). In addition, the cantilever can move freely against vibrations in the vertical and horizontal directions of the sound groove of the stereo record, which is necessary for signal reproduction, and the generation of distortion is reduced.
Uses DENON's unique cross-shaped armature. This structure is lightweight, and combined with the light weight of the cantilever and diamond tip needle tip, the equivalent mass of the vibration system is kept small, and the power generation coil is independently wound around the cross-shaped armature, so that the sensitivity difference between the left and right channels is small and good separation is maintained.
In order to take full advantage of the vibration system and power generation system, the DL-103D uses a unique double-structure cantilever of a joint rod type in a tapered shape to improve both rigidity and reduction of equivalent mass.

The needle tip uses a special elliptical needle similar to the shape of a recording cutter needle. In addition, the material of the diamond tip is 0.1 mm square (0.2 mm square for DL-103, 0.15 mm square for DL-103S). This reduces the mass of the vibration system and realizes wide-band reproduction.
This wider bandwidth improves crosstalk in the audible frequency band by 2 to 3 dB compared to the DL 103 s. In addition, since the mechanical impedance characteristic in the high frequency band is also improved, the deformation of the sound groove of the record is reduced, and the tracking performance of the sound groove of the needle tip is improved, and low distortion is realized.
